CEA Petroleum Equipment delivers the equipment needed to keep Clarence River Fishermen’s Co-operative bulk diesel clean and dry

In December, 2019 CEA Petroleum Equipment (CEAPET) supplied and commissioned a 30,000L Self Bunded Diesel Storage and Dispensing facility in Yamba, NSW, for the Clarence River Fisherman’s Co-operative.  This facility was purchased by the client to provide an unmanned, 24 x 7 source of bulk diesel for their trawler member base.

About Clarence River Fishermen’s Co-operative

Today the Clarence River Fishermen’s Co-operative has over 130 members, all professional fishers, who supply fresh seafood products year round.

While the current Co-operative was incorporated in 1945 by the professional fishers of the region, commercial fishing in the region goes back to the early 1800s. By creating a Co-operative, fishers, through investing in shares in the Co-operative, built one of the region’s most well recognised industries. Today the Co-operative, through the efforts of their members, directly contribute to the livelihoods of hundreds of local families.

Where did it all begin?

It all started with a web enquiry.  We quickly responded, and after 8 months of technical and commercial interaction CEAPET was awarded the order.  Our scope included mechanical and electrical design, workshop assembly, freight to site and site commissioning.  Our site scope was expanded to include the filtration and transfer of approximately 8000L of diesel that was stored in old tanks nearby.

The facility is a service station for Trawlers catching primarily prawns for sale into the Australian grocery industry – including Coles & Woolworths.

Trawler operators simply swipe their credit card, lift the nozzle, electrically unwind up to 30m of hose, and fill up their boat, pumping diesel at approximately 120 litres per minute.

This image is of a CEAPET designed and fabricated dual Donaldson TRAP Filtered Air Breather Assembly.  This unit removes dust and moisture from the air entering the tank when trawlers are being refuelled.  This ensures that the fuel in the bulk tank remains clean and free of moisture, that could lead to microbiological contamination of the bulk diesel stored. Included in the foreground of this image is a FE Petro 1.5 HP Submersible Pump.  This provides reliable and whisper quiet pressured fuel supply to the dispenser installed on the self bunded tank.

At Atlas CEA we sell a lot of self bunded diesel tanks to provide auxiliary fuel for fixed speed diesel engines such as generators and compressors.  This represents about 25% of the commercial petroleum equipment market.  The focus provided by CEAPET is opening up opportunities to provide commercial self bunded diesel storage and dispensing solutions to the broader fleet refuelling market.  The fleet refuelling market is huge.  It covers truck, bus, earthmoving equipment and even trawler refuelling.

If you have a customer who has the need to store, dispense, meter, filter or monitor diesel, petrol, lubricants, ad blue or waste oil please pass on the lead to the CEAPET team on sales@ceapet.com.au – or contact the CEAPET team – Paul Morgan on 0488 214 514 or Germain Briand on 0427 851 355
